I came across this video and thought it would be something many would find quite useful! I’ll have a video up very soon about some trash the dress shoots as well!

As all wedding photographers know, next to photography, the reception venue is by far the second most important. And of course the only reason I put it second to photography is quite honestly, well, because I’m a wedding photographer

Seriously though, the venue can make or break your entire day. Where the ceremony is will not matter much unless your religion dictates it. Even so, people won’t remember much about your ceremony. What they will remember is your reception. It can be such a wonderful great time, or it can be a serious dud…. And to make it great really doesn’t take much.

Now don’t just go booking the most extravegant place, don’t book this place or that place because it’s the most expensive or has the most reviews… Find a location that is you! For my wife and I, we chose a boat club on the Ct. river where I grew up. It had so much meaning and over the years has hosted many galla events. And you know what, it didn’t cost us thing. But it was “us”….

Now when you go to look at such venues, be armed. The sales staff at these locations will try to strong arm you into a contract, they’ll try to yes mam you to death and then once you sign that’s that…. And be sure to put any needs and promises in writing because when it comes down to your day, with out the contract having those promises listed you could be out of luck….

So what are you going to do? Find the most expensive? The least expensive or the location that’s right for you either way????

  • Find Your Location
  • Set the budget
  • View more than one spot
  • Be sure there’s plenty of space for the tables, the party and the dancing
  • Don’t get “sold”
  • Get all promises in writing
  • Saturdays are most expensive then Fridays then Sundays and now Thursdays are the new Friday
  • Don’t have the location be more than 25 -30 minutes away from ceremony location
  • Book it, check it off &
  • ENJOY YOUR DAY!

As a wedding and portrait photographer located in Ct. I have many great things available to me. The same things that are really there for all other wedding and or portrait photographers in Ct.. I guess for me it’s not those things that have me doing what I’m doing. It’s the fact that Love what I do. I love being a photographer.

I have another blog located at tabphotographicishere.blogspot.com which will generally go into more about certain photo shoots, weddings or just a rant about this or that. This blog however, this one is going to be geared more toward helping tips, great sites to use as reference and more.  While yes, I am still one of many Wedding Photographers in Ct. and shoot portrait session upon portrait session. There won’t be much about that here. Possibly the random post but again, for the most part…. This blog is all about the weddings, wedding tips and the likes…..

Shine on!
